Hotel Le Cassini lies in the center of the cycling events, between the great cols where cycling history has been written many times and often the final ranking of the Tour de France has been decided. Cassini is at the foot of Les Deux Alpes where once Pantani inflicted Ulrich the final blow and assured his victory in the Tour de France. A little further on the Glandon Ulrich dove into the bushes and Armstrong waited for him.

Also Dutch successes are celebrated. Michael Boogerd rode near Cassini over the Madeleine during its legendary stage win in La Plagne. Another major col near Cassini is the Croix de Fer where Landis bites the dust and Rasmussen achieved the stage victory.

From the Croix de Fer is the Telegraph the connection to the Galibier. Who knows the famous Le Marmotte cyclo, knows that every rider encounters themselves on the flanks of the Galibier. Right from Cassini direction Bourg d'Oisans waits after less than ten kilometers the famous climb to Alpe d'Huez, where every switchback bears the name of a great cyclist. Alpe d'Huez is also the dignified conclusion of Le Marmotte.

The Marmotte 2012 is the most famous amateur cycling race of 174km over the famous cols of the Oisans, with 7000 participants,... and passing Le Freney. We propose you a longer stay with us, so you have the time to warm up your muscles and start the race prepared well enough to win. As the hotel lies on the route of the Marmotte, you can change your bidons, powerbars and gels just before the last difficult climb of Alpe d'Huez.

At the end of August, there is the Marco Pantani Memorial. The start of this quite new cycling classic is in front of the hotel and goes for 164km over 3700m of climbing to finish in Les 2 Alpes. There is also a shorter version of 65km and 1800m of climbing.
